but

here comes another good news! music club 10th year anniversary is coming soon! which we used to call it as music club birthday party. the event will be more fun and more interesting than last year.

on 23rd february 2011,music club had held an orientation. This activity is to let all the music club members know each others well. the comittee list is as shown as below:-

the committee in charge had prepared some games such as ice-breaking and music concert. through the games,all the members can know each others more. besides, we had invited our school band,MILF to perform two songs. the songs are 'the great escape' and 'gives you hell'.

And in a blink of an eye, the year is almost coming to an end.

What a year it's been! From our small but fun Orientation, to one of the hottest activities in JB - Battle of the Bands, to our warmly received Singing Competition and Art Competition, and finally our last activity, our 9th Birthday Party.

Overall, I think everyone who attended the event would surely agree that it was well worth the experience. Hope to see the same faces, and more new ones, at our 10th Birthday Party next year, where we'll celebrate one decade of Music Club!

Hey readers,

Time really flies huh. In a blink of an eye we have reached August and approaching the end of the year, but that doesn't mean anything for Music Club SSI because we're always, always on the move towards better things. To infinity, and beyond!

From Battle of the Bands till now, we didn't just bask in success and take a break - instead we used it to push ourselves further and have since held another activity:

Singing Competition

Date: 24th July and 31st July 2010

For the first round on 24th July we could see that there was a warm response from students, with 8 contestants/groups participating. The finals were held on the 31st, with 4 finalists fighting with their voices to be crowned winners of this competition. The finalists were: Suhada, Aryanna Yuzni, Farhan, and a group consisting of Kuan Hong Yap, Long Li Jia and Ng Jia Yi. After much deliberation by our line of judges which consisted of Cikgu Razi, Puan Chong, , Vice President of SSI MC Chow Shu Ling, and Creative Director of SSI MC Chan Eak-Kuan, the winners were announced:

Champion : Suhada
1st Runner-Up(s) : Kuan Hong Yap, Long Li Jia, Ng Jia Yi
2nd Runner-Up : Farhan

So on behalf of SSI MC, I'd like to give my warmest congratulations to the winners and deepest gratitude to all participants, students, and teachers who supported this activity! Hope to see you all again next year!

Students wow the crowd at Battle of the Bands

JOHOR BARU: Five-man rock band One Chapter topped 12 other bands to emerge champion of Battle of the Bands competition.

The band, which walked away with a trophy and RM300 in the event organised by SMK Sultan Ismail (SSI) Music Club, where they performed cover-versions of ‘Plug in baby’ (originally by Muse) and ‘Revolusi’ (originally by Bunkface).

Frontman Amirul Asyraf Abd Aziz, 17, said that it was the first time One Chapter had competed in a battle of the bands showcase.

“To win a competition the first time competing is unbelievable. We are completely speechless and thrilled,” he said, adding that the band would take part in more competitions and work on more original songs in future.

The best: Five-man rock band One Chapter clinched the first place in the Battle of the Bands

A crowd favourite, One Chapter also won the ‘best band support award’ thanks to their bevy of cheering, banner-waving fans.

Another instant sensation at the battle of the bands was 11-year-old Rainnie Ong, a female drummer from a band called Music Soul.

“I feel lucky to have had the chance to perform for a crowd considering I have only played the drums for six months. I think I did alright,” said the shy girl from SJCK Pei Hwa.

Undoubtz, the winner of the best original song, were overjoyed when they won the award for their original song titled ‘Blue Sky’.

The third place winning band Cyber5’s Nur Sabrina Azman, 17, said that her band had done their best during their performance of Lady Gaga’s hit ‘Bad Romance’.

“We are a young band, only two-months-old, and this is our first competition together,” said the bubbly lead singer, adding that her brother and bandmate Azizurrahman Adli, 16, was her greatest source of support.

SSI Music club teacher-adviser Chong Lee Cheng, 52, said that this was the third time the Battle of the Bands was being held and it took about six months to organise.

“I am very proud of my students for the hard work they put in and the excellent results they achieved,” she said.

SSI senior assistant in charge of co-curricular affairs Rosli Bahrom, 54, said through the focus on the arts, the school hoped to produce students who were accomplished in not only academics but also co-curricular activities.

Competition judge and RTM Johor Baru combo drummer Hairul Hafizi Hasnan, said that most of the bands did well but they could get better with more practice.

“It’s a great idea to have this type of competition for students to express their creativity and talent,” he said.

The audience were also entertained by performances from dance team the Dancologists, Star Singing Competition finalist Sarah Wong, 15-year-old beatbox sensation Jacky Tan and rock band Black Lace during the competition.

Battle of the Bands 2010 RULES AND REGULATIONS

Rules and Regulations

*Please read the instructions below to qualify for the requirements of the competition.

Ø Ticket Fee : RM8 (audience / supporters)

Ø Number of contestants per team : min 2 pax, max 8 pax.

Ø Age range : 22 years old and below (students only)

Ø Duration of performance : 3 -10 minutes

Ø Song’s Ferules : NO SEXUAL REFERENCES + RELIGIOUS ISSUES + REFERENCES TO TERRORISM + SENSITIVE ISSUES.

Non-English songs are not allowed. HOWEVER, remixes containing different languages are allowed, on the condition that the remix is 60% English.

Ø NO VIOLENCE, NO DRUGS and NO ALCOHOL.

Ø English will be the main language used during the event.

Ø Action will be taken on disciplinary offences.

Ø Decision of the panel is FINAL!

Ø The organiser will not bear responsibility for any accidents or mishaps which befall on any contestant.

Ø Deadline : 30 May 2010

Ø Contestants are encouraged to bring their supporters. 15% of the overall marks will be based on the supporters.

Hello everyone. I know, 2nd post of the day already, but that just shows how fast SSI Music Club is going! We're really picking up speed and heading towards better things, so here's another juicy update for everyone.

Every year, SSI Music Club holds a big event so that everyone, not just from our own school, but from all around can come and enjoy, and witness how SSI Music Club continues every year to be a pioneer for greater and better things. This year we're bringing back BATTLE OF THE BANDS - which, as it's name suggests, is a competition for young bands from everywhere and anywhere, regardless of race, gender and religion.

Hey everyone! Hope all our readers are well, here's an exciting update for your reading pleasure:

We'll be holding a T-Shirt Design Contest, open to all members of Music Club! It's a simple and rewarding contest. Design a shirt, any style you want, any colour you like. The only condition is it MUST have the following details: our Music Club Logo (can be seen in our header - the treble-clef shaped thing), and our five mottos: Creative, Initiative, Innovative, Motivation, Revolution. The rest is up to you.

What's so rewarding, one might ask. Well, ALL participants will have added koko marks, while the WINNER will get even higher added koko marks and the new t-shirt with his/her design on it for free.

Those interested can get more information or hand in their designs to Chan Eak Kuan, 4 Bistari . Deadline is April 30th 2010 (Friday). So hurry up and get to work - give us a new look and be rewarded!

There have been requests from alot of members and non-members (lets call them students of SSI) who are really interested in guitar playing.

As the only guy in MC who plays the guitar, there have been request made personally to me to give guitar lessons to the interested ones.

Hi everyone^^
2010 is around the corner...
So,let's have some new plans for our Music Club------------
As usual,
The most important thing that I would like to emphasise is: Teamwork and Self control.
Just as an example, Ladanza is one of the mistake that I, and all of us have done.
It was crystal clear that we haven't show our teamwork very well.
And,it's really a quite difficult mission to complete a big show,ya know?
If we do all the part, all the mission, all the responsibility together,
without caring very much that whose duty is it and who is the one should be responsible for this and that but just work through all the difficulties together,
I believe that we can make our music club to become a club which is very successful in SSI.
Beside that, we should pay more attention on Choir.
As we all know, choir had became more and more Dull.
The wonderful and colourful choir which full of hapiness is waiting for us.
So, let's kambatech together and work hard for next year activities------orientation,dedication,choir competition,choir camp,trip,Battle of the Band(if possible),Hari Koko,Hari PIBG,Birthday Party,retreat......and many many more if we work together=)

Hey everyone, SSI Choir going to organise some practices

for competition of 2010.

This year, I hope we can achieve better result than previous year.

SSI choir should grab every chances to perform

No matter in what activities.

Our target this year

Achieve 1st place in the daerah competition
Get a professional choir teacher
Full attendance for every practice and gathering
Able to organize a Choir Camp
Compose a new song tittle Disney Medley for competition on 2010 state competition

Hope this year, we can get more new members

Quick, much needed update. =)

Hellooo. This is Chloe (Art Management, 2008/2009), typing from... uh. Her house. XD Anyway, in an effort to breathe some life back into this totally awesome blog, here's a quick update on a few activities that have passed in the past couple of months.

First I'll start off with a brief recap on our 7th Birthday Party, held on 27/09/2008.... The theme was 'Heaven and Hell' and we planned the performances and site decoration accordingly. All the AJKs worked very hard (I will never forget my experience with Liping, digging through piles of sticky and smelly trash for tin cans behind the shops in hutan bandar. ;)) ,though in my honest opinion there is a lot more that us AJKs can improve on. This year we'll definitely make more improvements for our lucky 8th Birthday Party. =)

Next was our annual retreat which was during the school holidays. The venue was Eak Kuan ~~and Xin Sian~~'s home, Datin Halimah Condominiums. The AJKs made full use of the facilities there to plan some games and all in all, everyone there had a fun and unforgettable time.

(add-on by our brilliant Creative Director, Chan Eak Kuan: all ajks had a great time in this beautiful heaven generously donated by our creative director eak kuan.) Indeed, thank you very much for the ''beautiful heaven'' suggested to us. ;)

2008 came to an end with the Retreat as our last activity and we then ushered in the new year with the first activity of 2009 - Orientation. The Orientation started off with quick introductions made by our new members. Soon after we wasted no time in beginning the fun 'treasure hunt' game. The game received very high praise from all participants as it was not only fun but also challenging. After everyone was tired out from all the fun, we then had a few performances in the Dewan Tertutup, which impressed many of our members. Overall the 2009 Orientation was a success as we definitely managed to leave a good and lasting impression in all our members' minds, be it new or old members.

Some of the participants. Being playful as usual, but in the end it's because of them that this activity was a success.

Our next activity which will be sometime in April is our Lawatan. Thus far most of the plans have been made and I can assure everyone that it will be an eye-opening experience to all those who participate. Also we musn't forget that coming up in the mid-year holidays we'll be holding LA DANZA 2009! Don't miss out on this one-of-a-kind dance competition, the hottest dancing event in JB! Feel free to approach any of the AJKs for more details. =D

Thus concludes my not-so-brief (sorry, haha it's hard to control myself when I think about all our activities. They're the best, seriously :3) recap of our last few activities. For those interested there's definitely much more to come, so just wait patiently okay?

CHOIR COMPETITION --------- SMK MOHD KHALID

Second week of Jan 2008, SSI MC's choir had it's audition!! Alot of new members, mostly d form1sss. New sopranos, altos, tenors, basses..( there are actually quite a number of boys) good thing. lol. It's a new arrangement of choir, since alot of seniors graduated. A new hope..waiting for us to fuflied..A new adventure waiting for us..

And with that, We started to train and practice. Vocal warm-ups were the basics. For me, it was the first time for me to lead so many people. I had my first time, and all the members had their first time too, singing in a choir. At first, all of us were like strangers. They were all scared of seniors. Don't dare to sing or speak. It reminds all of us about past times in choir with our seniors..what a wonderful memory it is.

Later on, we learnt Sejahtera Malaysia and Negara Milik Kita. These 2 songs have special meaning for us. The seniors sang these 2 songs for 4 years and yes indeed, those were memories which cannot be erased by time. The teaching process, hard and tired. I finally realised how tired and tough for my seniors to lead a choir. And what they did was all for our best. Hoping to pass these spirit to the members, to continue our dream.

I got the letter on 23 april. There's only 2 weeks for us to prepare for the comp! It was a challenge for all of us. And we did it. =)

On that day..................

After the form5 had est exam, we went to dewan tertutup for last practice before the comp. Yee yean was there! Yee yean was our choir teacher, a very great teacher. She was there to support us. Her advice and encouragement was our motivation. We will never forget her teaching and we will always remember this good teacher. :)

Our seniors, yongle, shiling, shihui n korxian were there too to support and help us. Really glad and appreaciate their guidness.

And here we go!!

Reached smk mohd khalid. It was just beside our school. =.= lol. First time no need to sit bus. lol. We were the last group and that was the fifth group to perform! Lucky num5. Seeing their anxious faces, reminded me bout what I felt when I first joined choir too. It was like yesterday. We sang. To our best. With our heart. And there, just a few minutes, we finished our performance. Happy. And excited.

Originally : Each team need to prepare two songs for two rounds of competition.
The duration of both songs are 10-15 minits.

SSI Music Club La Danza dancing competition is waiting for you!

It is a golden opportunity for you to show your talent and your extraordinary dancing skills.

For those who do not know how to dance, but is interested in this program, do not worry because you can be the audience or supporters foryour friends.

Here are some informations for those who are interested to take part:

1. Registration Fee: RM60(per team)

2. Age Range: 21 years old and below (students only)

3. Number of contestant in a team:minimum 2 contestants, maximum 10 contestants

4. Number of dances: 2 songs (English, Bahasa Melayu, Chinese)

5. Duration of dancing: maximum 8 minutes

6. The competition consists of 2 rounds, 5 teams will be selected to the final rounds.

7. The popularity of the team is also included in the rubric.

8. No drugs, alcohol, violence and gambling are allowed.

9. The organizer will not take the responsibilities of any accidents or mishaps befall on any contestants.

10. Action will be taken on disciplinary offences.

11. Decisions of judges are final.

La Danza is waiting for you! It is a golden opportunity for you to show your talent and your extraordinary dancing skills in dance on this competition on 31st of May 2008 at Tropical Inn which is near to the City Square. You would just have to payRM60 to form a team which is between 2 to 10 person. There will be attractive prices for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd winner. It would be exclusive prices for the 1st winner which is RM 700 and a trophy. For those who do not know how to dance, but is interested in this program, do not worry because you can be the audience or supporters for your friends. You can shout as loud as you can and be as creative as you can! Think of ways to cheer for them. The more creative the cheering team or supporters are, there will be given more points to the team you’re cheering for! So cheer creatively and loudly. Create atmosphere!
